Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a table with you this Summer?
Tables can only be booked via our website here from 5th Feb 2024.
We do book up quickly initially, however we have so many tables available to book over the season and we also have a waitlist running for all busy weekends and peak Summer days - tables can free up as things change, so please do go on the waitlist for updates or check back online last minute for cancellations! We can definitely get you a table over the Summer season.
Summer 2025 can be booked from Feb 2025 at the earliest.
How does your tender service work for boat arrivals?
Tenders run everyday (weather permitting!) - Just head into Colwell Bay, drop anchor before the big white marker bouys and our tender will come and get you. There is no need to call or radio in when you arrive, just arrive in plenty of time as we expect lots of boat arrivals in the Summer months.
Please note our last tender back to your boat is one hour after sunset.
What happens if it is bad weather and we are coming by boat?
If it is too choppy for anchorage in the bay and not safe to run our tender service, we will text you in the morning to let you know. You can then head round to Yarmouth Harbour instead, we will collect you and drive you around in one of our vehicles. If you cannot cross The Solent in your own vessel, you can hop on the Wightlink Ferry from Lymington, we can collect you from Yarmouth and drive you to The Hut.
Please note that our cancellation policy still applies regardless of weather or sea state, please check the forecast and let us know 48 hours in advance if the weather will stop you from getting to us.
Can we have a table with a view?
Yes! All of our tables have incredible sea views over the bay!
What happens if it is cold or raining?
All of our decks have a retractable roof and sliding glass doors, so that you can be inside our outside depending on the weather, the decks are also heated for those chillier days and evenings.
If you have booked a weather dependent table these are outside exposed to the elements, if the forecast looks cold, wet or windy we will try and get you moved onto a table inside and will confirm with you.
How long can I stay with you / can I come and drink in the bar?
We have very limited bar space this year so over the Summer months and all weekends we kindly ask that you do not arrive any earlier than your reservation time.
All of our lunch sittings give you time to have a really long leisurely meal with us, your booking confirmation email will tell you what time we need your table back (we would love to accomodate you at The Hut for longer if it is possible on the day).
For all evening reservations you can stay at the table as long as you like!
Can we bring our kids and dog?
Yes you can bring the kids and also well behaved dogs are welcome anywhere in the restaurant.
Is there a dress code?
No, not at all, just keep your footwear and tops on please when you come in from the beach!
What do you not accept?
Sadly no stag or hen do's, no balloons, no confetti or decorations on the main decks. Private dining bookings may have some low level table decorations.
We sadly cannot accomodate any bikes at The Hut or chained up outside The Hut / by the private beach huts. There is a bike rack on Colwell Chine Road in the pay and display car park.
Is there a DJ on?
Our Hut resident DJs play throughout our peak lunches over the Summer, if we don't have a physical DJ there then our Hut playlists play over our sound system throughout the whole restaurant.
Can we bring a birthday cake or a special bottle of wine?
For the odd special bottle of wine we charge a corkage of £35 per 75cl.
You are welcome to bring a cake, we do charge a £35 cake charge if you bring your own cake instead of having dessert with us.
We also offer delicious celebration stacks which can be ordered in advance with the reservations team.
